DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS
I’ll be asking for a £15 deposit for each event this season. This means I can continue my commitment to having as little crossover as possible.
When I choose your stall instead of any others that sell similar products, I’m making a commitment to you. I have found in the past that some traders book onto events even though they don’t necessarily plan on coming to them all. They then tell me or change their mind when it’s too late for me to find a replacement stall, meaning we have gaps in the stall line-up, particularly of certain types of popular products. This doesn’t make a good event!
If you’re a new trader to Worker Bee Markets, welcome! We’re looking forward to working with you and helping you grow your business. For your first event, I’ll ask for full payment early just so I know you’re definitely planning on coming. After you’ve done your first event, I’ll ask for a deposit for the others you’ve booked to encourage you to confirm or cancel.
NOTES ON BOOKINGS
I don’t book traders on a first come first served basis. However, I will start allocating pitches before the end of January so it’s in your interest, as well as in mine, to get your request in early!
Our events are curated and rely on many different factors.
- choosing traders who make their own products
- booking as many local makers as I can
- having a good mix of different types of products
- having a mix of regular traders and new/infrequent traders to keep it fresh
- choosing makers I know will help spread the word and be friendly on the day
- bringing on board and supporting brand new makers
- giving opportunities to local community groups and charities
CHARITY STALLS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS
We always give away at least one free stall at each event. If you’re fund-raising or awareness-raising on behalf of a charity or local community group, fill in the request form like everyone else. In the notes, let me know if you want a stall only if it’s free (chances are you will only get one stall for free per season) or if you are able to pay sometimes in order to get more dates (you’ll still likely be offered one stall for free and pay for the others)
NOTES ON PITCHES
If you’re bringing a gazebo, it needs to be good enough to stand up to the Manchester weather. It needs to be strong and waterproof. Garden gazebos aren’t good enough. You will also need heavy weights, each one at least 10kg. if you turn up at a market in inclement weather without good enough equipment, I’ll have to send you away for the safety of other traders and the public.
