Get all the Cheese Banter you could ever need from Philip Gordon
What’s the story behind your name?
It was the first name that came to mind suggesting exactly what we do without anybody asking what we do.
What do you sell?
Cheese truckles, hand made by a small family dairy. Third generation now, headed up by Chris Sandham. The dairy has been going since 1929 in Rostock dairy in Barton near Garstang.

Who runs your business? Do you have time to do any other jobs or is this full time?

Just the Cheese is run by me, Philip, with help from wife and two daughters. It’s part time only and I have no other jobs
Where do you get your inspiration?
I listen to to other stall holders’ banter and adapt theirs to cheese banter… Yes there is such a thing!
Where can people find you?
There are no markets currently due to the lurgi but our online shop is open at www.justthecheese.co.uk
Once markets start up again, you’ll find us at all the Worker Bee Markets in Bramhall, Reddish and Marple Bridge.
Do you have any tips for anyone wanting to start their own creative small business?
Yes, be original, be bold and don’t hold back on starting up. Faint heart never started a business.
What have you been upto during the COVID pandemic?
I’ve been listening to music. I love my vinyl collection. I’ve also re-listened to Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and watched Shawshank Redemption about 10 times. Ask me anything about it!
What have you missed about Worker Bee Markets?
I loved the camaraderie and the fact that they are very well organised and interesting venues.

Have you found new places and ways to sell your products whilst there have been no markets?
We’ve sold so much on the internet to far and wide but there’s nothing like face to face to make you feel like you’ve achieved.
