Award Makers

We’ve found our seven artists who will design and make the 2020 Worker Bee Artisan Awards. Our aim is to support and encourage local creatives so we’re thrilled that all these talented makers have agreed to take up the challenge.

With three of our artists from Stockport, two from Wythenshawe and two from North Manchester, we’re showcasing the best local crafters. We’re confident these bespoke, handmade awards will be beautiful and sought after amongst the crafting community.

The awards will be made from the following materials: slate, Hama beads, twisted wire, iron, clay, wood and wool. The brief is quite broad so expect the unexpected! We do.

Paul Milligan from Chiselled Features by Paul in the Heatons will etch a design into a slate plaque.

Jess Brett from Bizzy Beadz, based in Edgeley will create a framed awards from colourful Hama Beads.

Lou Duncan from WilLou Art in Wythenshawe will intricately wind wires into a bonsai-style tree

Ruth and Alf Lomax from Banshee Trading in a Reddish will forge an iron sculpture.

Mel Whitehead from Made by Mel based in Rossendale will crochet a piece of art

Sarah Lyons from Wythensahwe-based Clay on Words will sculpt, stamp and fire a clay artwork

Helena Hart from Harty’s in Radcliffe will carve a beautiful piece of wood.
